Govt. Vellore Medical College Hospital (GVMCH) is located at Adukkamparai in Vellore city. It is situated 8km from Vellore Town Bus Terminus (FORT). It is considered as the one of the top among Govt. Medical Colleges in Tamilnadu.

The seed was sown in 1882 as a small municipal dispensary at Arcot road of Vellore town.23 years later it was transferred to the new building at the heart of the town. In 1915,it was inaugurated by the governor of madras LORD PENTLAND. Henceforth it came to be known as PENTLAND hospital and functioned as one of the major head quarters hospital in the state. The consent of Affiliation to the Dr.M.G.R. Medical University.
