About College

Ramananda College, Bankura was established in 1945. Initially the college was affiliated to the Calcutta University and later on to the University of Burdwan and duly recognized by the UGC under 2f and 12B. As the College was established before independence it predates both UGC and the University of Burdwan. In 2007, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accredited the College at B++ level with 83.15 score which is the highest in the Districts of Bankura, Purulia and Birbhum of West Bengal.

The inception of college was the beginning of providing higher education to the otherwise marginalized youths of that locality. The proposal to establish a centre of higher education was initially made by Sri Ramnalini Chakraborty, freedom fighter and social worker of Bishnupur. The mission of the college is to enlighten the rural youth through higher education and to flourish them as intellectual giants.
