The College is affiliated to the University of Calcutta. It is located on the road joining Amtala and Budge Budge to Bishnupur, Block-II in the District of South 24-Parganas, some thirty kilometers away from Esplanede, the administrative and commercial hub of the city of Culcutta. The college, though only a little away from the south-west fringes of the metroplis, is situated entirely in a rural setting amidst lush pastures. The college came into being on 29 july, 1963 as the unflinching zeal and social commitment of visionaries of the locality ,such as the late Dhirendranath Bera and the late Harendranath Majumder, were brought to fruition.
