Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam ( University for Women )was founded in the year 1983 by Sri N.T.Rama Rao, the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, with the fervent desire to train women students as better builders of the Nation and to inculcate skills of leadership in all aspects of life.

The University was established under the Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam Act of 1983,which has come into force on the 14 of April 1983.It was started with ten faculties and 300 students and twenty staff members. Sri Padmavati Mahila Visva Vidyalayam ( Women's University ) conduct the Entrance Examination for the Post Graduate common Entrance Test for the academic year of 2015. Allocation Of Seats To Various Reservation Categories :

1. Seats in each course are reserved for Rayalaseema, Andhra and Telangana of AP and Telangana states in the ratio of 22:42:36. Of the seats reserved for each region, 85% seats are filled with local candidates of that region, while the remaining15% seats are filled with local or non-local candidates of that region by merit.

2. Seats allocated for different reserved categories are as follows:

3. A vacancy under SC goes to ST and vice-versa if enough SC & ST candidates are not available, the left-over seats will go to OC. A vacancy under one BC group goes to any other BC group on the basis of entrance rank. If enough BC candidates are not available, the left-over seats will go to OC.

4. For admission into Extracurricular Activities ( ECA ) seats, participation during the period of study of the qualifying examination is alone considered.

5. Expert committees nominated by the University will certify the suitability and priority of the candidates under special categories ( ECA / PH / CAP ).

Payment Seats :

In most of the Regular ( R) courses, additional seats are provided as payment seats. The candidates selected for admission under this category have to pay the prescribed fee at the time of admission in addition to the Tuition fee and Special fee of the respective courses.

Admissions for payment seats will be done simultaneously along with the regular and SF seats. Candidates have to come prepared with necessary fee.
