North-Eastern Hill University was set up by an Act of Parliament and notified on 19th July 1973. The objectives of the University, as laid down in the act, are "to disseminate and advance knowledge by providing instructional and research facilities in such branches of learning as it may deem fit; to pay special attention to the improvement of the social and economic conditions and welfare of the people of the hill areas of the North-eastern region, and in particular, the intellectual, academic and cultural advancement".

Application in the prescribed form are invited for admission to the UG & PG courses of study in the North Eastern Hill University for B.Tech., B.Tech Lateral Entry & B.Arch.,M.Tech,Master of Tourism and Travel Management ( MTTM ) & Master of Food and Agri-Business Management Courses in the academic session 2015-16.Programme commencing from August, 2015

North-Eastern Hill University Engineering Entrance Examination ( NEHU-EEE ) Reservation Of Seats-2015:

For B.Tech., B.Tech Lateral Entry & B.Arch. Programme :

Application in the prescribed form are invited for admission to the courses of study in the North Eastern Hill University for / B.Tech., B.Tech Lateral Entry & B.Arch. Programme commencing from August, 2015.

Reservation For NEHU-EEE-2015 :

The distribution of seats shall be as follows:

Open category : 30%.
Reserved for SC/ST : 50%. Preference will be given to domiciles of Meghalaya.
Reserved for physically challenged : 3%. Such applicants will be examined by a medical board.

Reserved for NEHU employees, their spouses and children (10%) :

Certificate of employment should be issued by the office of the Registrar. The seats remaining vacant under this category will be converted into open category.

University quota : 7%,earmarked for the following categories:

Educationally backward areas (domiciles of Meghalaya) : The level of backwardness shall be determined vis-à-vis national level of literacy ( 2011 census). The literacy rate at the Gram Sevak level will form the basis of award of added marks. Certificate in this regard should be issued by the Block Development Officer.

Widows / wards of armed forces personnel killed / disabled in action or during peace time.
5% exclusive reservation for wards of Ex-servicemen ( supernumerary seats )

Admission of foreign students :

They shall be made against supernumerary seats provided the concerned department has adequate facilities. The admission shall be made through the Central Committee for Admission of Foreign Students, NEHU following the guidelines of the Government of India. Children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries may also be accommodated under this category.

Kashmir Migrants :

Admission of the wards of Kashmiri Migrants shall be made against supernumerary vacancies as per the Government of India rules.
