Andhra University is one of the oldest educational institutions in the country, and  also the first to be conceived as a residential and teaching-cum-affiliating University, mainly devoted to post-graduate teaching and research.

Andhra University was constituted in the year 1926 by the Madras Act of 1926. The people of the State have an emotional attachment to the institution, since it came into being after a prolonged and collective struggle of the Telugu elite for a University in the educationally backward northern Circars and Ceded districts of the erstwhile Madras Presidency.

APICET-2015 is the first Andhra Pradesh State Integrated Common Entrance Test, after bifurcation of the state, designated as Andhra Pradesh Integrated Common Entrance Test - 2015 will be conducted by the CONVENER, APICET-2015, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education for admission into M.C.A. Regular Course in Andhra Pradesh for the academic year 2015-2016
