Jawaharlal Nehru University ( JNU ) admits a limited number of candidates directly to PhD programme either on the basis of viva-voce or on the written examination and viva-voce, as may be decided both in Monsoon and Winter Semesters in various areas of research in the School of International Studies, School of Social Sciences, School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies, School of Computer & Systems Science, School of Physical Sciences, School of Environmental Sciences, School of Life Sciences, School of Arts and Aesthetics, School of Computational and Integrative Sciences, School of Biotechnology, Centre for the Study of Law & Governance, Centre for Molecular Medicine and Centre for Sanskrit Studies.
