North-Eastern Hill University was set up by an Act of Parliament and notified on 19th July 1973. The objectives of the University, as laid down in the act, are "to disseminate and advance knowledge by providing instructional and research facilities in such branches of learning as it may deem fit; to pay special attention to the improvement of the social and economic conditions and welfare of the people of the hill areas of the North-eastern region, and in particular, the intellectual, academic and cultural advancement".

North-Eastern Hill University( NEHU ) PhD. Admissions Scholarship-2015:

For PhD.in Information Technology (IT),Electronics & Communication Engineering ( ECE ),Nanotechnology, Management & Law. Course :

Application in the prescribed form are invited for admission to the research courses of study in the North Eastern Hill University for PhD.in Information Technology (IT),Electronics & Communication Engineering ( ECE ),Nanotechnology, Management & Law in the academic session-2015-16. Programme commencing from August, 2015.

Scholarship For NEHU-PhD. Admission-2015:

Junior Research Fellowship ( JRF ):

Junior Research Fellowships are open to candidates who are not more than 35 years for men and 45 years for women as on 1^stJuly and have obtained a Master’s Degree of a recognised University securing a minimum of 55% marks and have qualified in the National Eligibility Test ( NET ).

University Grand Commission ( UGC ):

UGC may also award fellowships to research scholars who may have cleared NET.

North-Eastern Hill University-NEHU Scholarship :

A few NEHU Postgraduate Scholarships are available to meritorious students who have passed their Honours degree examinations securing a minimum of 55% marks and are pursuing their postgraduate studies at NEHU.

Performance Scholarship :

The University at its discretion may also award a scholarship to a fresh candidate of the final class taking into account his / her performance at the previous examination if he / she has obtained at least 55% marks ( 5% relaxation for SC / ST students ).

Financially Backward Students Scholarship:

Financial assistance to poor and deserving students is provided under Students’ Aid Fund for payment of tuition fees, examination fees, purchase of text books, stationery expenses; to meet hostel changes, expenses on clothes and emergency medical expenses; or to grant interest free loans for deserving students and to meet any other needs of the students considered to be genuine by a special committee constituted for the purpose.

Note:

A student who is in full-time employment will not be eligible for these awards or scholarships.
