Central Teacher Eligibility Test ( CTET ) Entrance Examination

In accordance with the provisions of sub-section (1) of Section 23 of the RTE Act, the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) had vide Notification dated 23rd Aug, 2010 and 29th July, 2011 laid down the minimum qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher in classes I to VIII. It had been inter alia provided that one of the essential qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher in any of the schools referred to in clause (n) of section 2 of the RTE Act is that he/she should pass the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) which will be conducted by the appropriate Government in accordance with the Guidelines framed by the NCTE.

The rationale for including the TET as a minimum qualification for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher is as under:

  1. It would bring national standards and benchmark of teacher quality in the recruitment process;
  2. It would induce teacher education institutions and students from these institutions to further improve their performance standards;
  3. It would send a positive signal to all stakeholders that the Government lays special emphasis on teacher quality

How to Fill CTET 2018 Application Form?

CTET 2018 Application Form was available at ctet.nic.in from August 1, 2018, to August 30, 2018. To fill the application form for CTET 2018

Step-1 Click on the link of CTET 2018 Application Form: First of all click on the above link which redirects you to the online application from the page. Now if you are a new user then you have to click on the button “Proceed to Apply Online”. Then some instructions will be displayed on your screen. Read all the instructions carefully and then click on the “Proceed” button.

Step-2 Registration of CTET 2018 Application Form: After following the above steps the new page opens, which will ask for State Name, Identification Number and type (such as Aadhaar card, Driving Licence, Passport etc.), Name, Gender. After filling all the fields correctly candidates have to submit the form.

Step-3 Fill Application Form of CTET 2018 Application Form: After submitting the registration for the application part open with some prefilled area such as Name, Gender, and Date of Birth. Now you need to fill the CTET 2018 Application Form. On the form, you have to fill:

Candidate’s Particulars: You need to fill:

  • Candidate’s Name
  • Mother’s Name
  • Father’s Name
  • Date of Birth

Exam Centre Preference: You get three preferences to fill the exam center. The center will be allotted to you according to the candidates.

Language Offered for CTET: In this section, you have to fill:

  • Language-1
  • Language-2
  • Question Paper Medium

Personal Details: In the personal details, you have to fill:

  • Aadhar Number
  • Gender
  • Category
  • Status of Qualifying Exam
  • Employment Status
  • Applying for
  • Have you Appeared for CTET before?

When you select the Exam, you will get some options to mark the educational qualification. Choose your relevant option.

College / Institution / University from which B.Ed. Degree / Diploma in Education / Elementary Education: In this section, choose your:

  • Diploma
  • Degree
  • State
  • District
  • Name of college/institution/university
  • PIN code
  • Percentage
  • Marks Obtained

Address: Now you need to fill:

  • Address
  • Locality
  • City
  • District
  • State
  • Pin Code
  • Mobile number
  • STD code with a telephone number
  • Email ID.

At last, enter the Security PIN and then click on “Next” button.

Step-4 Review Page of CTET 2018 Application Form: After filling in the details, you will get a review page. Check all the details carefully and then click on the “Final Submit” button.

Step-5 Upload Images in CTET 2018 Application Form: Now you have to upload the images such as photograph and signature in the specified format. The specifications are given below.

  • Images Format Size Dimension Photo JPG 4 kb – 100 kb 3.5 * 4.5 cm
  • Signature JPG1 kb – 30 kb 3.5 * 1.5 cm

Step-6 Application Current Status for CTET 2018 Application Form: After uploading the images a status page will be displayed. On the screen, you will get the Registration Number. Then select the Mode of Payment.

Step-7 Fee Payment for CTET 2018 Application Form: Now you will need to pay the application fee as specified above.

Step-8 Downloading Confirmation Page from CTET 2018 Application Form: After the payment, a confirmation page will be displayed. Take the printout of that confirmation page for the future reference.
