See the skit in the story. I felt very sad, playing Mohan's role, as no one in the police station helped me initially. The SHO's role in the beginning was very disappointing. He should have behaved in a gentlemanly manner. He should have tackled the situation in a judicious way. The neighbours instead of going to the police station, should have gone to Raghu or the village Panchayat to persuade Raghu for giving back the portion of land to Mohan.

The SHO could have handled the situation differently through:
(i) He could have listened to Mohan seriously.
(ii) He could have called Raghu to the police station.
(iii) He could have dissuaded Raghu to retrace his decision.

The main functions of the District Collector are as follow:
(i) Collector is in-charge of law and order administration in the district.
(ii) He/she performs the supervisory role over the police administration.
(iii) He/she advises the government on various aspects of law and order.
(iv) He/she is the pivotal figure in carrying out the developmental programmes.

The poem is trying to raise the issue of inheritance of daughters and mothers in the property of their father/husband. I think this issue is very important because after getting married, women are harassed for dowry and finally they are left by their husband. If inherited property would be with them, they can do enough to meet their ends.

He should report to the police
• It would scold him.
• It would also send him to jail if he resists.
He should not report to the police
• He would waste a lot of money.
• Nothing would come out of it.

If there is a theft in my house, I would go to the police station of our area to register my complaint.

When Mohan and his neighbours reached the police station, Mohan went to the person in-charge i.e. SHO and told him what had happened with him at the village. He also said that he wanted to give the complaint in writing. The SHO rudely brushed him aside saying that he could not be bothered to waste his time writing down minor complaints and then investigating them. Mohan showed him his injuries, but the SHO did not believe him. Mohan was puzzled and did not know what to do. He went and called his neighbours into the office. They argued strongly, then the case was registered.

There are several reasons for which land records are compulsory. Suppose a farmer wants to buy a plot or field. Then, he needs to authenticate it. This can be done through the land records. If a farmer wants a loan from banks to dig a well in his land, he has to show the land records to prove that the land belongs to him. Moreover, these records are also essential for buying and selling of their properties. If the farmer wants to divide his property among his children, then the land records are essential.
